Since 1979, the motto of owner Beau Theriot has been “Create without Reservation.” The Oasis on Lake Travis started as a great restaurant on a hill and now it is a four story “dream” facility that seats close to 2500 people. We will enjoy two of his lovely spaces; the “Starlight Terrace” and the “Top of the Oasis.”
Starlight Terrace is by far the largest room in the Oasis. As the sun sets across beautiful Lake Travis, your guests can dance the night away on our spacious dance floor, or lounge on the beautiful grand decks high above. With a unique retractable roof, Starlight offers natural celestial lighting!
The Joint Meeting reception is included in all full conference, first exhibitor representative, and accompanying persons’ registration fees. All others must purchase a reception ticket.
Additional guest reception tickets: $60.00 per person
Child reception ticket (12 and under): $30.00 per person
The reception menu will include a fajita bar of marinated skirt steak and grilled chicken breast with caramelized peppers and onions, shiner bock braised pork, served with Flour tortillas, Spanish rice, and charro beans. Each attendee will receive two drink tickets for the bar.
Shuttle buses will be provided and will depart from an area to be determined at the Renaissance Austin Hotel starting at 5:45 p.m. and will run continuously. The shuttle buses will start departing from The Oasis starting at approximately 7:30 p.m. and will run continuously until 10:15 p.m. Participants will need to visibly display their JMIH name tags when boarding the bus in order to participate in the JMIH opening event.
Entertainment: The Austin Lounge Lizards
The Austin Lounge Lizards are a musical group from Austin, Texas formed in 1980. The band includes founding members Hank Card and Conrad Deisler, along with Darcie Deaville (2008) and Bruce Jones (2010). The band started out experimenting with folk but was still heavily country in its style, combining the bluegrass form. Between the members a large number of different instruments have been played, including a rich variety of string instruments such as the banjo, mandolin, and fiddle. The Austin Lounge Lizards are five-time award winners at the prestigious Austin Music Awards. Their version of Irving Berlin’s “C-U-B-A” was used in the Michael Moore film “Sicko.” The band has been featured on NPR’s “Morning Edition” and on the radio programs “Mountain Stage” and “E-Town.”
