History of the Kansas Transportation Engineering Conference (KTEC)
The conference, which started in 1918, serves as an opportunity for transportation engineering experts from across the region to discuss moving the Kansas transportation industry forward.
The Kansas Transportation Engineering Conference (KTEC) will celebrate their centennial conference on April 10-11, 2018. KTEC exemplifies a longstanding collaboration between the Department of Civil Engineering at K-State, the Kansas Department of Transportation, K-State Global Campus, and several conference sponsors including: K-State University Transportation Center (KSUTC), Kansas County Highway Association (KCHA), Kansas Chapter, American Public Works Association (APWA), Kansas Association for Uniform Traffic Control (KAUTC), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Kansas University Transportation Center (KUTC).
Over 500 attendees attended in 2017 to hear 38 speakers present on various topics including bridge design, electronic construction plans, and new drone technology. The conference also hosted an exhibitor tradeshow in which 14 companies from around the country were able to network with attendees. Dr. Robert Stokes, Department Head of Civil Engineering at K-State, was the conference director and Susan Barker of the Kansas Department of Transportation served as the program chair.
