There are several ways to get around Savannah that make it easy to get all of the activities on your schedule.
Savannah Mobility Management, Inc. offers a complimentary downtown shuttle (dot) service throughout the Savannah Historic District.
Chatham Area Transit (CAT) is the local transit system in Savannah and offers many fixed bus routes. Fare for local one-way service is $1.50 for buses and transfers are free. Buying a day pass for $3.00, being able to take unlimited rides, is also available. Customers over 65 years old (Seniors) and passengers with disabilities can pay half-price, 75¢, on local routes with ID. They accept tickets, passes, and cash. Pass purchases can be made at the Joe Murray Rivers, Jr. Intermodal Transit Center (610 W Oglethorpe Ave) via cash, check, debit or credit card. They are open Monday-Friday from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. If making a payment via check, valid ID is required!
DOT is a fare-free service that helps visitors and residents make their way around downtown Savannah. The system includes shuttles serving 24 stops in the Historic District and the Savannah Belles Ferry. Click to view DOT Map.
Taxis are one of the modes of transportation available in the Savannah area.
The City of Savannah has authorized a taxi fare of $2.50 for the first 1/6 of a mile. An additional $0.38 per 1/6 of a mile after, not to exceed $3.60 for the first mile and $1.92 per mile thereafter. There is no charge for traffic delays, but a $25 per hour waiting time charge is set. No charge for baggage that can be transported within interior and/or cargo area of the cab.
Some areas carry a flat rate fare that is based on one passenger. For additional passengers, $5.00 per additional person is added to a location within Georgia.
From the Savannah International Airport to the Savannah Historic District (including the Hyatt Regency Savannah) is a fee of $28.00.
