Daniel (Dan) W. Wheeler is a professor emeritus of leadership studies and former head of the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communications at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Previously, he was coordinator of the Office of Professional and Organizational Development at Nebraska. He has degrees from Antioch College, Cornell and State University of New York at Buffalo. Wheeler has made numerous contributions to faculty development, chairing departments and leadership. He currently serves as a chair coach. He is author of several Jossey-Bass books, including Servant Leadership for Higher Education: Principles and Practices (2012); The Academic Chair’s Handbook (2008, 2nd edition); Academic Leadership in Community Colleges (1994); The Department Chair: New Roles, Responsibilities and Challenges (1993); and Enhancing Faculty Careers: Strategies for Renewal & Development (1990).
